George Eliot ‘inadequate hospital’

George Eliot ‘inadequate hospital’

Following an inspection carried out earlier this year by the Care Quality Commission, it has come to light that George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton requires improvement. It is extremely worrying to hear that inspectors have considered that the standard of services has declined since their last inspection.

The hospital was under special measures in 2013 and during that time, the hospital admitted that it needed a partner organisation, yet it remains to be an independent organisation to this day. It is difficult to understand why the hospital has been able to continue without further assistance following the situation that arose in 2013 and why standards have been allowed to slip since once again!

At Alsters Kelley solicitors we have acted for a number of clients for failings which they were subject to at George Eliot hospital over the years and have successfully achieved compensation on behalf of our clients.

It appears that the hospital has failed to learn from their past mistakes and have failed to improve on the quality of care they provide to their patients.

Anjalee Chauhan, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Solicitor at Alsters Kelley says, “In order for improvements to take place, the hospital needs to implement clearer teaching methods to avoid future mistakes from happening. They also need to provide extensive training to staff to enable them to provide a better standard of service to all patients.

It is simply not acceptable to allow mistakes to continue to take place and drastic changes need to be implemented to avoid the situation which arose in 2013 from happening again.”
